Why a Pediatric Dentist?
Taking your child to a pediatric dentist is one of the best decisions you can make for their long-term oral health. With 2-3 years of specialized training after dental school, pediatric dentists are equipped to focus on the unique needs of children, from infancy to the teen years, including those with special healthcare needs.
Pediatric dentists are experts in managing behaviors, easing anxiety, and preventing dental problems, using gentle techniques for young kids and age-appropriate guidance for teens to ensure a positive experience and the best care possible.

First Dental Visit
Our office, as well as the The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) all recommend establishing a “Dental Home” for your child by one year of age. Children who have a dental home are more likely to receive appropriate preventive and routine oral health care.
X-rays
X-rays, or radiographs, do more than detect cavities—they help monitor growth, diagnose bone issues, assess injuries, and plan orthodontic care, revealing problems a simple exam can't. Early detection leads to easier care for your child and lower costs for you, which is why pediatric dentists recommend regular X-rays.
Typically, X-rays are taken once a year or every six months for children at higher risk of decay. Modern safety measures ensure minimal radiation exposure, keeping your child’s smile healthy.

Fluoride
We recommend using fluoride because it is a natural and safe way to strengthen tooth enamel, making it more resistant to decay. Fluoride not only helps prevent cavities but also promotes the repair of early-stage decay, stopping cavities from worsening.
By incorporating fluoride into your child's dental care, we can help protect their growing teeth, reduce the risk of dental problems, and keep their smile healthy for years to come.
Sedation Dentistry
Sedation dentistry offers gentle options to help children feel at ease during their dental visits. Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, is a safe and effective way to relax kids while they remain awake and aware, making it perfect for routine procedures.
For children who may need slightly more support, IV sedation, under the care and supervision of an anesthesiologist is available. This ensures they receive the care they need in a safely monitored environment.
